Deb Reid is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a Reiki Master who has been in the medical field and working with energy therapy for over 25 years.

After working as a Biochemist, she received a Master’s Degree in Nursing from Pace University in 2000 and has worked in Hospice, Family Practice and Emergency Medicine. While in nursing school, she was trained in Therapeutic Touch and went on to receive training in Usui Reiki Ryôhô and completed her Master level training in 2010. As of December of 2014, she is a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner.

Deb’s journey to finding Functional Medicine and Reiki was directly related to her own health issues and the fact that her family struggles with many early onset chronic health issues. By the time she was 32, she was already taking 7 medications for allergies, asthma, migraines, thyroid and gut issues. On top of that, her provider at the time thought that she should start also taking two more medications to manage elevated cholesterol and hypertension. After working in modern medicine for several years, she knew that medications were helpful, but do not address the underlying issues. So, she changed her diet and her lifestyle and had dramatic improvements in her health as well as reducing her need for most of those medications. Additionally, she went from being someone who took Motrin almost every day of the week to someone who generally feels good without fatigue or chronic pain. She is still working to improve her health every day but feels so much better since she changed her lifestyle and feels stronger today than she did when she was in her 20s. Deb has also experienced significant mold illness as well as COVID long hauler syndrome and has used Functional Medicine to heal successfully from both. Reiki has also been invaluable in helping her with stress, PTSD and hope.

Her goal is to help clients find and realize their personal path to wellness through a combination of modern and alternative medicine. She believes that health is a journey and not everybody starts from the same place, nor will we all reach the same exact goals, but each step we take can improve our lives immeasurably.

Deb lives in Maryland with her dog who keeps her busy with walks and snuggle time. She likes to spend her free time outdoors camping, hiking and canoeing. She also enjoys dancing, quilting and nature photography.
